Swiss pair Deseyn and Kistler take gold in Youth Mixed Relay

France finished second and Andorra third in the last competition of the championships for youngsters.

Boí Taüll, 5 March 2023 – The last day of the WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Championships 2023 started in the morning with the qualification for both races – Youth Mixed Relay and Senior Mixed Relay.

The first battle for the medals of the day started at 11:00. 12 teams from seven different countries met in the final of the Youth race. One boy and one girl each did two laps composed of two uphills and two downhills.

Both Chinese women started very well and created a lead for their colleagues. However, in the first circuit, the Swiss and the French boys got ahead. From this point, it was a battle between these two teams. In the end, Thibe Deseyn and Jon Kistler of Switzerland won ahead of Louise Trincaz and Jeremy Anselmet of France. The third to cross the finish line was the team from Andorra – Lea Ancion Havet and Oriol Olm Rouppert.

“It feels great to end the champs like this. I knew that Chinese girls are super strong, but the boys are not at the same level. I had a gap, I closed it very fast, and then I tried to build as much gap as possible. In the second lap I tried to increase to lead and in the final part to control the downhill and to avoid mistakes,” said Jon Kistler.

Thibe Deseyn finished the World Championships with two World Titles and a medal in all four starts. Louise Trincaz won one title and two silver medals. Both girls are among the most successful youth athletes of the championship.
