Skimo action resumes this weekend in Boi Taull
Boi Taull, 26 January 2024 – The action of the ISMF World Cup circuit continues this weekend in Boi Taull (Spain). Home of the European Championships in 2022 and the World Championships in 2023, the ski resort in the heart of the Pyrenees is ready to welcome the best skimo athletes of the world for a thrilling Sprint race, followed on Sunday by a Mixed Relay.
Sixteen countries will be represented on the start lists for this weekend, including athletes from Chile, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Canada or USA, and of course representatives from the Alpine countries like Switzerland, France, Austria, Italy and other European countries like Poland, Slovakia, Belgium, Andorra, Germany and Spain.
36 women and 54 men will take the start on the Sprint race, the third one so far this year counting for the overall ranking, And wearing the bib number 1 on the men’s race will be local hero Oriol Cardona. He has won both Sprint races this year -Val Thorens World Cup and European Championships in Flaine- and kicking him out of the podium this time will be complicated. Against him, quite an impressive roster of athletes have proven many times that they are solid on Sprint races, like Inigo Martinez de Albornoz (ESP), Iwan Arnold (SUI), Thibault Anselmet (FRA) or Nicolo Canclini (ITA).
On the women’s side, it will be Marianna Jagercikova (SVK) who will open the competition and will wear the number 1. Still, the field is more open, with both women that have won the sprint races this year -Caroline Ulrich (SUI) in Val Thorens and Marianne Fatton (SUI) also present in Boi Taull.
