Axelle Gachet-Mollaret and Rémi Bonnet dominate in Tromsø’s ultimate Vertical Race of the season

Tromsø hosted the final Vertical Race of the ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup season today.

Athletes from 20 nations took part in this competition, which was held in cold and cloudy conditions, a sharp contrast to the springtime conditions on the last competitions. This made this Vertical Race even more iconic.

Women’s race: Axelle Gachet-Mollaret Continues Her Reign

France’s Axelle Gachet-Mollaret secured victory with a time of 22:00.2, maintaining her dominance in all the Vertical races she participated in this season ISMF World Cup season. Teammate Emily Harrop finished second in 22:37.7, continuing with an impressive consistency over the season in all SkiMo disciplines. Italy’s Alba De Silvestro claimed third place with a time of 22:58.1, highlighting her strong end-of-season form. Austria’s Sarah Dreier finished fourth in 23:07.8 and Johanna Hiemer fifth in 0:23:33.

Men’s Race: Bonnet Completes a Perfect Vertical Season

Switzerland’s Rémi Bonnet dominated the men’s race, winning with a time of 18:35.2 and achieving a clean sweep of all Vertical Races this season. Belgium’s Maximilien Drion du Chapois continued his impressive season by securing second place in 18:56.8. Switzerland’s Aurélien Gay took third place with a time of 19:02.6. Austria’s Paul Verbnjak finished fourth in 19:07.3 and Swiss Thomas Bussard fifth in 0:19:22.
