Fruitful meeting of the ISMF Council

Lausanne, 26 June 2023 – The International Ski Mountaineering Federation Council met virtually on June 22nd with a busy agenda to review the season and set up the basis for the next one.

With all fourteen Council members present and no conflict of interests with the proposed agenda, the first point in the agenda was to review and approve the meetings of the previous sessions of the Council.

In view of the Plenary Assembly planned for 2023, and with the aim to re-open the electoral process of the Council,  the terms of office for various elected positions were reviewed, including the transitory dispositions, that if an elected ISMF Council member that does not finish their term of office in 2023, may choose between continue to the end of their term or present candidacy in the elections of 2023.

The ISMF Sport & Events Manager, Josef Gruber, presented a report on the preparations for the Milano Cortina Games, including the meetings held with ORIS, and the Olympic Qualification System, approved by the IOC Executive Board, which has already been published for all National Federations and athletes to consider.

The Council also reviewed the situation regarding the participation of Russian and Belarus athletes and their possible participation as neutral athletes in the season 23/24, a decision that was delayed until the Plenary Assembly 2023.

The ISMF Council reviewed the monthly cashflow of the organization, and discussed the current situation with the media rights of the events for the 2022/2023 season.

With all votes in favor, the ISMF Council approved the competition calendar for 23/24, including the World Cups, Youth World Cups, Series and Championship events, and also reviewed a first draft of some changes in the competition rules that will be implemented, if all approved, in the next competition season.

The successful result of the WADA audit and the compliance with the current GDPR regulations and Data protection clauses were also discussed.

Alessandra Schmid will be serving as the Athletes Committee representative on the Sustainability Commission, while Marianna Jagercikova will be representing the Athletes Committee on the Gender Equality and Inclusion Commission.
