On 13 May 2025, the President of the ISMF Ethics & Compliance Office, Mr Juan Jesús Ibáñez Martín, represented the International Ski Mountaineering Federation at the Olympic Movement workshop on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM-PMC), held at Olympic House in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Mr Ibáñez Martín joined more than 50 representatives from 40 Summer and Winter International Federations at the workshop, which focused on the latest developments across the three core pillars of the OM-PMC strategy: regulation and legislation, awareness-raising and capacity-building, and intelligence and investigations.
Key topics included:
- National Federations and integrity: Collaborative approaches to co-create tools and campaigns with the IOC, designed to raise awareness among athletes, coaches, and referees about the risks of competition manipulation in the lead-up to Milano Cortina 2026.
- Athletes as integrity ambassadors: Practical case studies from federations that have successfully engaged athletes as champions of integrity within their sport.
Speaking at the event, Mr Ibáñez Martín stated:
“It is important for all International Federations to work together and demonstrate a shared commitment to transparency in sport. As a small and relatively new Olympic federation, the ISMF is working hard to meet the high standards expected by all our stakeholders – from athletes and coaches to officials and organisers. Our next steps include strengthening our rules, implementing targeted education programmes, and working closely with our National Members and athletes to embed a culture of integrity.”
