Bormio: a key venue for Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games
Nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps, Bormio is set to play a central role in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. This picturesque mountain town, home to 4,000 residents, will host the Olympic debut of Ski Mountaineering’s Sprint and Mixed Relay events, alongside the Alpine Skiing competitions.
Bormio MiCo 2026 Test Event will bring together nearly 200 athletes from 27 nations, offering a first glimpse of the official Olympic courses. The races will kick off at 1,215m altitude in Bormio, where the world’s best athletes are ready to take on this thrilling challenge.
Bormio have hosted the Youth World Cups in 2024. Now, it takes another step toward Olympic history!
A great opportunity for the Italians athletes to show up on home soil
Midway through the season and just a week before the World Championships in Morgins, Switzerland (March 3-8), this ISMF World Cup offers athletes the perfect opportunity to assess their form and showcase their ambitions.
All eyes will be on the home favorites, including Giulia Murada, Alba De Silvestro, Nicolo Ernesto Canclini, and Michele Boscacci, as they take on the official Olympic courses in front of enthusiastic local supporters.

Sprint race, Saturday February 22, 2025
Everything is set in Bormio for this historic Sprint race, taking place on the venue hosting the first-ever Olympic Sprint at Milano-Cortina 2026. The track features 70m of elevation gain, starting with a 50m uphill section, followed by a 10m foot part segment, and a final 10m ascent on the skis.
A total of 186 athletes, 83 women and 103 men, representing 27 nations will line up at the start.
Mixed Relay race, Sunday February 23, 2025
The Mixed Relay track will also be identical to the one set for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, offering athletes a perfect test under Olympic conditions. The track features 135m of elevation gain spread across two climbs, with the second one with a foot part segment.
A total of 129 athletes, representing 64 teams and 24 nations are expected on the start line.

Of course, the best place to watch a race is onsite, but if you are not able to be there, the International Ski Mountaineering Federation has signed agreements with several broadcasting channels so everyone can follow the competitions.
