The Malino Skialp Days, part of the ISMF Youth World Cup series, showcased an unforgettable three-day competition in the stunning mountains of Malinô Brdo. Ski mountaineering fans witnessed intense races, full of endurance and heart-pounding moments. Athletes from across the globe demonstrated their skill and determination, making this event one for the books.
Day 1: Individual Race – Italians, Norwegians, French, and Austrians Lead the Pack
The opening day of the Malino Skialp Days brought excitement to the individual discipline, where athletes faced not only physical endurance challenges but also the need for strategic climbing tactics. Mild temperatures provided perfect conditions for competitors to push their limits.
In the U18W category, Teresa Schivalocchi, Italian athlete claimed first place, displaying remarkable endurance and tactical prowess. For the U18M, Aron Rodal Haugen Norway’s top racer triumphed with a powerful performance, asserting his dominance in long ascents.
The U20W race saw Camille Maupoix, French athlete dominate, showing impressive perseverance and flawless technique, while in the U20M men’s category, Silvano Wolf Austria’s athlete led the way from the start and powered through the competition to secure victory.
The day was filled with fierce competition, and spectators were treated to thrilling battles across all categories. The impressive performances set the stage for an exciting continuation of the competition in the days to come.
Day 2: Vertical Race – A Magical Finish in the Clouds
Day two brought a vertical race like no other. Under an ethereal sky, 77 athletes lined up to tackle the steep and challenging ascent, aiming to reach the finish line hidden in the clouds, creating a truly magical atmosphere for competitors and spectators alike.
As the athletes climbed, the weather transformed the landscape into a mystical haze, with racers vanishing into the clouds, only to emerge at the finish line like warriors overcoming immense challenges. It was a day of high drama, with competitors giving their all in pursuit of victory.
The race tested the competitors’ courage and determination, and while one athlete fell short of the finish line, her effort and tenacity were deeply respected. The battle for the finish was fierce, with athletes sprinting for every last second. Some crossed the line utterly spent, collapsing in the snow as they processed their monumental effort. Two of the winners – Teresa Schivalocchi and Silvano Wolf – repeated their incredible performance, claiming victory once again in this explosive discipline.

Day 3: Sprint Race – Italian Dominance and Czech Sensation at the Finale
The final day of the Youth World Cup at Malinô Brdo was a spectacle of speed and strategy. Under a clear blue sky, the athletes faced a highly technical sprint course that tested their agility, endurance, and tactical decision-making. The race was fast-paced and action-packed, offering a thrilling conclusion to the event.
Italian athletes once again proved their dominance, sweeping three gold medals and securing victory in three out of four disciplines of the championship. The performances were nothing short of exceptional, with Italy firmly placing itself at the top of the standings. U20M Luca Curioni, U18M Gioele Migliorati and U18W Giorgia Pollini.
However, the last gold medal of the day went to a Czech athlete, Eva Matejovicova; who delivered a spectacular performance, crushing the competition with her aggressive yet precise racing. Her victory was one of the event’s highlights, and her achievement will be remembered as one of the standout moments of the Youth World Cup.
The award ceremony was a touching moment, as the Italian anthem echoed across the venue multiple times, and victorious athletes shared heartfelt smiles and hugs, celebrating their hard-earned successes. It was a day full of emotion and pride, reflecting the true spirit of the Youth World Cup.
A Fantastic Event and Bright Future for Ski Mountaineering
The Malino Skialp Days Youth World Cup was an extraordinary event, bringing together teams from 14 countries to compete at the highest level.
The final stage of the ISMF Youth World Cup will take place in France, in Puy Saint Vincent & Pelvoux, from 26 to 30 March. Athletes will compete in Sprint, Mixed Relay, Individual, and Vertical disciplines, where the best youth athletes and nations of the season will be determined.
Before that, young athletes will travel to Morgins, Switzerland, from 3 to 8 March, to compete for the prestigious World Championship title.
