Val Martello, 21 February 2024 – Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled weekend in the breathtaking Val Martello, Italy, as the ISMF World Cup circuit descends upon the Alpine beauty for its highly anticipated 5th stop of the season. With the majestic peaks of the Ortler mountain range serving as a stunning backdrop, the Marmotta Trophy promises high-intensity racing and a showcase of unparalleled skimo talent with individual, sprint and mixed relay races on the menu.
This weekend’s competition boasts a remarkable turnout, with 110 athletes hailing from 23 nations, converging to battle it out on the challenging courses that Val Martello has to offer. The Marmotta Trophy has become synonymous with top-tier skimo action, and this edition is no exception, featuring a lineup of athletes who have left an indelible mark on the sport.
The action kicks off on Thursday with the Individual Race, where competitors will navigate a demanding course, testing their endurance and technical skills against the clock and 1500m+ for the men, 1300+m for the women. Expect fierce competition from the likes of Remi Bonnet (SUI), Matteo Eydallin (ITA) -winner here last year-, Thibault Anselmet (FRA) or Emily Harrop (FRA) or Alba de Silvestro (ITA), just to name a few that already accumulate quite a significant number of podiums this season.
As the excitement builds, Saturday and Sunday bring the spectacle of the Mixed Relay and Sprint Races.
